Elaina George, MD, is an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist practicing in Atlanta, Georgia. “All I ever wanted to do was be a doctor. To take the time to sit with a patient, get to know what makes them who they are in order to help them is the foundation of good medicine.”

Big Insurance, Big Pharma and now Big Medicine describes the movement from individualized medicine to corporate healthcare which relies on population based medicine which will mean a one size fits all approach at the expense of the doctor patient relationship. The healthcare system is broken and playing politics has failed to fix the problem.

Dr. George offers the unique perspective from the practicing physician and gives an inside view of how and why the healthcare system became broken and discusses solutions on how to fix it. As Dr George rightly states “You can’t fix the problem until you understand how it started and evolved. The solution ultimately rests with doctors and patients.”

Practicing physicians had no meaningful influence on the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Patients, likewise, lacked input into ObamaCare as it is called today. The time has come for a practicing physician to explain the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on patients, and in a broader sense, on the United States healthcare system. Hence, this book. Dr. George channels her knowledge and medical experience into her prescription, returning medical care to patient-centered delivery based on excellent care at a reasonable cost. Our responsibility as patients and physicians is to advocate for ourselves and insist that we maintain our medical privacy and individuality, the cornerstone of the patient-physician relationship. Dr. George writes, Liberty can only be preserved by people who pay attention and take action. A good first step is reading Big Medicine.

  2. Lee H. Beecher, MD

As doctors are now becoming employees of ever-larger organizations, they replace their loyalty to patients with obedience to their hiring organizations. Attention to compulsively inputting the electronic health care record (EHR) often dominates their attention during patient consultations, and satisfying documentation and pay-for-performance criteria are based on Electronic Health Recond entries. This often replaces attention to the patient and the personalizing of his or her care.
Dr. George shows that independent physicians in America today are indeed caught on the horns of a dilemma. Either they give up their professional autonomy and patient advocacy or else they must withdraw from all third party (insurance) reimbursement systems in order to remain in practice. There is a growing Direct Pay and Cash Practice market for physician services in America. And this will expand.

The question: To what extent will poor, middle class, and elderly (Medicare) lose access to these independent physicians and small group practices? Unless the ACA is changed significantly, they surely will. Dr. George’s well-written tome helps us to consider these critical questions.

Dr. George reminds us that ultimately, health care is about the needs and welfare of patients. And ultimately no one is better able to okay health care recommendations and make economic decisions than are patients in partnership with their trusted physicians. That’s why public policy in American health care needs to empower patients and their families to control where dollars for health care and insurance protection will go. Dr. George’s fine book helps show the way.

Dr. George has written a comprehensive
guide for Doctors and Patients that will
help them navigate through the maze of
corporate bureaucracy that exists in the
    Healthcare system today.The Book offers
valuable solutions that bring back the
importance of the Doctor and Patient relationship,
which is the foundation of Medicine.

I saw Dr. George on SBN TV and she really enlightened me on health care. She is very knowledgeable and really impressed me. I know nothing about health care, but I do have Kaiser Permanente Health Insurance, which I am so very grateful that my Civil Service had many different health care companies to offer. I chose Kaiser, and now for 20 years, I have been very pleased that they have met my every need. I believe that EVERY person (especially those that were forced into Obama Care) should read this book.

I saw DR Elaine GEORGE on Frances and friends today 4-8-16 talking about Oboma care ,medicare and social security. The interview or discussion between Frances Swaggart and Dr. Elaine George was one of the best riveting health care information that i have ever seen since Oboma Care was passed.I am very much interested in what the book says that Dr Elaine George wrote (BIG MEDICINE) .Just from the information i heard this morning was a mind boggling, wakeup call to how dangerous this new type of health care is.Everyone should have seen this Interview between Frances Swaggart and Dr. George.I am in no way affiliated with Dr. George ,but i do want to order the book for my personal lack of knowledge on what has to do with my life.I value my life and all lives, but according to Dr. George ,Oboma care does not have the best interest of Doctors and patients altogether. If you value your life and those of your loved ones i would try to at least watch the interview with FRANCES SWAGGART AND DR. ELAINE GEORGE .Then make a concerted effort or decision if you should buy this book.I already know just from what i heard in the interview, i want to buy this book. The Bible says “my people perish for lack of knowlege”GOD BLESS Randall Michael

I watched Dr. George on Francis & Friends a few nights ago. It was absolutely astonishing! The information she shared regarding the healthcare system in this country was mind blowing but…NO surprise to me at all! I’ve always known that healthcare issues in the US would be politically managed and crooked once the government began to take power over it. Manged healthcare means…they manage your health! Who wants that? We as Americans can and should do something about this. The government can and will actually dictate when you die based upon you healthcare! Americans don’t seem to understand that! But they…Congress and Government officials have the best options for healthcare and guess who pays for it….WE DO! I can truly say I see why God has shortened the time, the devil is in rare form deceiving folks. We had better wake up people! I love the way Dr. George breaks all of this information down and gives options for us to look into. Thank you Dr. George!

After watching a SBN interview one Saturday morning, I couldn’t pick up my smart phone fast enough to order this book. It was out of stock on Amazon but thankful, I was able to order one from her directly. Customer service was A+ as her staff let me know the book was on back order but would ship soon. In 2 weeks I had a autographed book at my front door! Talk about happy??? I did a dance. 1/3 of the way into the book and I can’t put it down. I was actually stuck on Chapter one when I couldn’t believe the differences between the Hippocratic Oath! I hope to use this information to guide me as a physician in the near future. As I have been a living witness to the quality of healthcare based on one’s zip code, it is my dream to use my degree to offer affordable and high quality care to people who may not always be able to afford it. Off to finish my book! Thanks Dr. George!!! Bravo!!

I have watched and listened to Dr. Elaina George on Frances and Friends ( SBN ), and I think that she is a physician that patients can depend on and Trust, and that is important when an individual is looking for a primary physician. I wish that Dr. George were here in Clearwater, Florida., because I would love to have her as my physician. She cares about her patients, its not about money, its all about the patients needs. I wish that there were more physicians who put the patient first and not themselves.

I was just listening to Dr george on wfan
Radio station thank you .and was absolutely stunned. With her honestly.
I work for a major hospital and its all corporate decision. Bottom line.

If you get treatment at a walk in same care 1/3 the cost.. and non for profit hospitals ceo’s are making more than for profit institutions.system very wrong.

I have not read this book as of yet. I heard Dr. George on 660 A.M. and was profoundly moved by her compassion and commitment to the health care industry; as we embark on surviving capitalism and all of it’s overtly immoral connotations.

Dr Lee Beecher is right, when you go to doc they use a nurse practitioner or cna to record your symptoms, according to prewritten phrases. Recently l sought out a spine doctor because l was injured in car accident may2016,and have days where l have difficulty in walking and spasms in arches (feet). so bad, that l was going into depression. I came in useing a walker because my legs would go weak.l left office crying because l didnt agree w their statements. It seemed unrealistic. I have a medical background and l could described the symptoms.had previous doctor notes.

I live in West Virginia & saw when Dr. George was on Frances & Friends. Like so many people who watched that I was really impressed with her sincerity as to what is going on with healthcare. I had to go to the ER room in December 2016 where I layed in pain for 6 hours. I’m in my 60’s & have been in pretty good health until then where they gave me morpheine, percaset & several drugs which didn’t help for many many hours later which should have knocked me out for days cause I have never taken anything other a generic OTC ibuprofen. They told me to follow up with the spine doctor they recommended which I did. It’s almost been 4 months now & I’ve not been able to see the back doctor only his FNP-C’s. My insurance has denied two requests for MRI’s & told me I had to do 6 weeks of physical therapy which did not help. The FNP-C yesterday put in a third request for the MRI so back to waiting. I wish healthcare was truly about helping the sick patient not becoming a business. I would love to order the book & know what other options are out there, but at this point I don’t know who to trust or what is right. If I didn’t mention what my pain is, it started out in my right SI joint, has gone to my left SI joint, degenerative disc, the pain is moving up my back to my neck & now my buttocks & up is burning.

You can go to a website – http://www.jointhewedge.com There is a listing of doctors (orthopedic surgeons, neurologists) who have discounted case based practices. You will be able to get discount MRI. If you work outside of the insurance system, I think you will find that you will be able to access excellent affordable care. God Bless!

I heard Dr. Elaina George on KOH 780AM radio in Reno Nevada. Dr. Elaine’s statements started me thinking about searching out a Doctor that had my health in mind, Otherwise I have preferred not to go to a doctor unless I absolutely have to go, & then it would probably be in an ambulance unwillingly.

The whole health care system needs a major overhaul! What about Insurance providing a policy that includes preventative care. Insurance should include or provide if one wants to prevent any foreseeable health problems down the road at least once a year a provision to see a nutritionist and check blood chemistries for any imbalances and have the chemistries or imbalances corrected by the nutritionist recommendations or an action plan or health goals for the patient to correct deficincies. A lot of diseases, illnesses or chronic diseases is simply a lack of a vitamin, mineral, amino acids or essential fatty acid deficiency. There was a study funded by the government (yes, Big Gov) back in 1971, after 12 years, $25 million dollars, 26,000 autopsies and 10 million blood chemistries examined that was the conclusion. Mystery solved as to why people get sick! Big Pharma does not want you to know this! It’s evident and obvious why!

Doctor Linus Pauling who discovered vitamin C said this about health and nutrition.

“You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral [a nutrient] deficiency.”
    – Dr. Linus Pauling
